Tata Electronics Signs Landmark MoU with Himax Technologies and PSMC to Advance India’s Display and AI Sensing Ecosystem
Tata Electronics is going to manufacturing unit for display semiconductors in partnership with Taiwan-based PSMC and Himax Technologies, a top official of the company said on Wednesday. Speaking at IESA Vision Summit, Tata Electronics CEO Randhir Thakur announced signing of a tripartite agreement with the Gujarat government for the plant.
Tata Electronics, a pioneering leader in India’s electronics manufacturing sector, has announced a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Himax Technologies, Inc. (Himax, Nasdaq: HIMX), a Taiwan-based industry leader in fabless display driver ICs and semiconductor products, and Powerchip Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation (PSMC), a leading Taiwanese foundry and technology transfer partner of Tata Electronics. This collaboration aims to revolutionize India’s display and ultralow power AI sensing product and technology ecosystem.




Tata Electronics, a pioneering leader in India’s electronics manufacturing sector, has announced a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Himax Technologies, Inc. The MoU marks a significant milestone for Tata Electronics, Himax, and PSMC as they expand their market outreach and explore opportunities in the growing display semiconductor and ultralow power AI sensing sector, both in India and globally. By leveraging their respective expertise, the partners seek to deliver end-to-end display semiconductor solutions, covering chip design, manufacturing, packaging, and electronics manufacturing services (EMS) to provide system-level solutions for domestic and international markets.
A key focus of the partnership is to develop solutions tailored to India’s "Made in India" initiative, while also catering to global demand and strengthening supply chain resilience. This initiative builds on the landmark 2024 agreement between Tata Electronics and PSMC to establish advanced semiconductor manufacturing capabilities in India.
